Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban is a manufacturer of sunglasses, founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb. They were introduced for the United States Air Force. Ray-Bans were initially created in 1937 after Lieutenant John MacCready had returned from a balloon flying adventure. He complained that the sun had done permanent damage to his eyes and contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a type of sunglasses that would not only provide superb protection, but also look elegant.

2 models standing out are the Aviator and Wayfarer.

Aviator sunglasses are a style of sunglasses that were developed by Ray-Ban in 1937. They are characterized by dark, often reflective lenses having an area two or three times the area of the eye socket, and metal frames with wire temples which hook behind the ears. It was initially sold to the navy and army. Aviators became a hit after being featured in movies such as Top Gun starring Tom Cruise.

The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is a design of sunglasses manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1952, when their design was a revolutionary break from the metal eyewear of the past. Wayfarer sunglasses were worn by Will Smith in the movie Men In Black and also by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator.
